The porifera phylum consists of all species of sponges, which is about 5,000 different types in total. The Sponges in this phylum are some of the most simplest animals in the world. The Porifera Phylum is the only phylum that represents the parazoa branch of the animal kingdom which are those without true tissues, and that diverge from the lineage shortly after the evolution multicellularism from colonial protists. Overall the porifera phylum is a phylum that has a fanatstic bunch of simple and cool animals.
